Steam Cleaning Carpet in Eugene

without comments

Steam Cleaning has become the most popular type of carpet cleaning. It is also known as Hot Water Extraction or HWE.

The most common method of HWE (hot water extraction) is to prespray the carpet with a cleaning solution then agitate the solution into the carpet. And then rinse the dirt and chemicals from the carpet with hot water. This is where the term Steam Cleaning comes in. The hotter the water the easier it can be to get some stains to come out.

There are other factors that come into play with how clean you are able to get the carpet.

The quality and quantity of the Cleaning Chemical.
How well the chemical has been agitated into the dirty carpet.
How long the chemical has been allowed to dwell on the dirty carpet.
The amount of water used to rinse the carpet.
The percentage of water left in the carpet.
The temperature of the water used to rinse the carpet.

If the carpet is not very dirty often the agitation step is skipped. The cleaning solution is often allowed to dwell (5 to 20 minutes) on the carpet. Then the carpet is rinsed with water or with a water and a neutralizing chemical. Carpet Pre spray is usually done with a powerful cleaner. It is mixed into a sprayer and then sprayed lightly in the cleaner areas and heavier on traffic lanes and dirty areas of the carpet.

Upholstery Cleaning Eugene

without comments

Your Upholstery probably takes a beating.  Upholstery cleaning in Eugene is important and should probably be done more often than carpet cleaning. Yes I think Upholstery should be cleaned on a more regular basis than your carpet.

Vacuum your Upholstery Regularly

When you vacuum your floors you should take some time and run your vacuum over your furniture also.  If you do the old white cloth test you will pick up a lot of dirt from your furniture.  The White Cloth Test is done by putting a thin white piece of cloth like a thin tshirt over the suction of your vacuum.  Then run the vacuum over your furniture.  You will see that you are picking up dirt.  You will get more dirt by not having the cloth over your vacuum intake.
Kids and Pets on your Upholstery
If you have kids or pets or a lot of people in your living space then your upholstery probably needs cleaning.  Our clothes absorb anything that they come in contact with.

If someone in your household works a dirty job and then ends up on the furniture then a lot of that dirt is being transferred to your sofa and chairs.

You have more contact with your Upholstery than your Carpet.  Most people only contact the carpet with their shoes and rarely touch it.  We tend to spend a lot of time sitting on our furniture.  Most people vacuum their carpet regularly but not their sofas, chairs or other upholstered furniture.

Dust on your furniture
If you dust your house then you know that a lot of dirt settles from the air onto your chairs and couches also, not just on your hard furniture.  When you sit on the sofa and chair furniture then this dirt gets worked into the fabric.  Regular vacuuming of your furniture will help.  The natural oils

Pets on Furniture

If you have pets they are most likely on your furniture.  Even if they are trained to stay off the furniture they will be on it.  When I was a kid we had a German Shorthair Pointer.  She was a great hunting dog and a great family dog.  She was very well trained and stayed in the kitchen and just inside the living room when we were home.  If we left the door from the kitchen open when we were gone we would find a warm spot on the couch when we got home.  She had mainly white hair and that would show her spot on the couch also.
